STATEMENT

Hey Honey, look, a 29 by 36 cm digital canvas. The size was defined to fit the maximum ratio you can display vertically on Instagram and print on A3. At 300 DPI, because, of course, resolution matters if you want to be taken seriously. But really, it’s just a grid full of pixels. A lot actually, 14,563,100 to be exact, each capable of reflecting 16,777,216 hues. That makes many possible combinations, a dizzying number that the mind struggles to imagine, but still, not endless. There’s only a limited number of ways to fill the grid, and all I do is pick a few of them. Not just any, of course, the ones that make sense. At least, I think so. Maybe I was trying to make sense, an intentional translation of my thoughts into a graphic and aesthetic language. Or maybe the meaning came afterwards, when the image appeared and I gave it an interpretation. Or perhaps it’s all bullshit, complete nonsense pleasing to the eye and we like to think it holds a deeper significance than a random scattering of pixels on a pre-defined grid.

Honey, what do you think?
